The Delta State Police Command has arraigned 22 suspected cultists before two courts in the state over alleged involvement in cult-related activities.
The suspects, arrested in separate operations at Eku and Owhelogbo communities, were charged with conspiracy and membership of an unlawful society, specifically the Supreme Vikings Confraternity, also known as “Arobag.”
According to the Command, 15 suspects arrested at Eku were arraigned before the Federal High Court, Warri, on September 25, 2026, after being transferred to the Command Anti-Cult Unit (CACU), Sector 2, Ozoro, for further investigation.
Seven other suspects arrested at Owhelogbo were arraigned before a Chief Magistrate’s Court on similar allegations.
The courts subsequently ordered the suspects to be remanded in correctional custody pending further proceedings.
Among those arraigned were Best Enarisa, 45; Alex David, 33; Precious Onokponu, 30; Joel Odafe, 19; Zino Oghene, 33; Oghenero Gabriel, 35; and Ofego Omaoke, 25.
The police said the arrests and prosecution formed part of its ongoing efforts to tackle cultism and associated criminal activities across Delta State.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Samuel E. Erale, said the Command would pursue cult-related cases beyond arrest through diligent investigation and prosecution in accordance with the law.
Erale warned persons allegedly involved in cult activities to desist, while urging parents, community leaders and other stakeholders to provide the police with credible and timely information that could help prevent cult-related violence.
He also reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to using lawful enforcement measures to disrupt cult activities and bring suspects before the courts.
